Follonica is a modern town stretching along the coastline, 80 km south of Livorno and 45 km north of Grosseto. It faces the island of Elba whose profile can generally be admired at sunset. The pedestrian way which runs parallel to the beach is very lively in the evening and there´s a bar where a drink and some music can be enjoyed till late at night. Many sports possibilities: surf, windsurf, watersky, snorkelling and many more. The coast is characterised by long beaches partly under the shade of pinewood forests.Other renown beaches are within easy reach (Punta Ala 14 km and Cala Violina 10 km). The town of Massa Marittima (19 km) is well worth a visit.
